He'd figured as much. It's no less annoying. "Of course."

"I told you. It hold things." Is Link laughing at Donnie on the inside, just a bit? It's hard to tell. He's not an easy person to read.

But maybe Link is ribbing it in a little. Just a teeny tiny bit.

And since, as far as Link's concerned, all of Donnie's Sheikah Slate related questions have been answered...he doesn't see much reason to stick around. "Bye," he says, before stepping back towards Muffin, and leaping up onto her back.

Given he draws a breath then it seems Donnie's loading up for a comment on that. Internally it all devolves into the equivalent of a mental keymash as Link abruptly bids him farewell.

"Wh- Hey! That's it?! That doesn't explain anything!!" he sputters.

Link looks down at Donnie from Muffin's back, head quizzically tilted to one size.

Seemed like explanation enough to Link. It carries things. Weight and quantity isn't an issue. "What else would you need to know?"

"'What else do I need to know'- How would be sufficient but obviously that is not something you have an answer to." Donnie shakes his head, rounding up his thoughts, narrowing down his questions.

"Does it have a size limit? Quantity limit? Is it limited to storing only inorganic material or could it potentially carry living creatures?"

Link - still seated on his horse - taps again at the Slate.

What he pulls out is a lizard. A living, still wriggling lizard. He keeps a tight grip on it in his palm, as he holds it out towards Donnie.

The turtle actually yelps at that, jumping back.

"Okay, while I appreciate the visual demonstration over a simple yes or no- you just randomly store lizards in there?!" He's...not really sure where he sits with that bit of info. On the one hand that's one question answered. On the other, it only spawns a dozen more.

"So somehow it can breathe, suggesting that either there is a physical space they are stored or alternatively, possibly placed in some form of stasis until brought out." Donnie eyes Link. "Do I even want to know how many of those you have in there?"

"Twenty-three." Nevermind whether you wanted to know or not - you get to learn either way.

"Probably stasis," he says, with a shrug. Not that Link really knew for sure, but the slate had the Stasis rune, and it was maybe similar to Link's own time in the Shrine of Resurrection. He didn't change much while he was in there either. The Slate having a kind of stasis made sense, at least to him.

"Food stays hot," he adds, because that always seems relevant.

Donnie opens his mouth and shuts it again. Yeah, he should have figured he'd get an answer for that. He applies a palm to his face and slides it down.

That Link is offering something of an opinion on the matter is progress so far as he's concerned. Dropping his hand, Donnie blinks. "Stays hot? Huh. That does lend to the theory that there is some kind of stasis-element to it. You didn't answer if there was a size or quantity limit."

Link shrugs, as he returns the lizard to perpetual stasis once more in the Slate. Quantity limit was a bit more...iffy.

"Seventeen weapons. Eleven bows. Nine shields. Lots of amour. Lots of materials. Lots of meals." Was there an exact number, for things other than his weapons and shields? Link didn't know. "Sometimes I don't have space for more meals. When I've cooked a lot."

Why the heck did anyone need eleven bows and that many shields... Donnie's back to stroking his chin as he processes this information and simply comes to the conclusion that Link is a hoarder.

"Right." He has a feeling asking about the food would just venture into a completely different territory so he stops himself there. "So then there is a limitation of some sort. Glad to know there's some type of warped physics still at work. Haven't tried stuffing any buildings in that thing?"

"I tried to put a boulder in there once," Link says. "It didn't work."

He'd been a bit disappointed, in fact, to find that it didn't. He'd been hoping that he could just always have a boulder on hand, there for Link to drop upon unsuspecting bokoblins anytime he liked. Instead, Link had to make do with any boulders that happened to naturally be around.

"Because of course you did." He is very rapidly getting a feel for how Link operates so this bit of information does not surprise him at all.

"That's a relief. If you didn't stop at boulders and lizards then my next concern would be people." Beat. "Don't even think about trying it."

"Only small animals fit. Lizards. Bugs. Snails." Does Link have all of those creatures stored away in his slate? Yes. Yes he does. In large quantities.

(And yes, he has tried bigger animals too. That one cucco he tried to shove in there once had been really, really unhappy about it.)

Is there no end to this menace's hoarding habits? With each creature mentioned, Donnie just looks a touch more disturbed. "No, no- I'm not even asking why," he stolidly decides, shaking his head.

And Link hasn't even mentioned the monster parts.

"Okay," Link says. "...Now do you know everything?"

Somehow, Link gets the feeling the answer is 'no', but he can't possibly begin to think what else Donnie might ask about.

Probably a good thing. Donnie would then have to wonder about if anything in there smelled from possible exposure, but then again, if they were all in some kind of stasis then maybe it was compartmentalized too.

"...no, but I'm sure I'll just get a headache rather than all the answers I might be looking for." He waves a hand at Link in a dismissive fashion, massaging between his eyes with the other.

Right, now it's definitely Link's cue to leave.

"Bye," he says - again - before kicking his heels with a soft "Hyah!", and riding off.
