( Witch Cast (Debut) Œ ≈≈ Video Œ ≈≈ Post-Mission )
[The screen flickers on an a distinctive banner shows up, covering the screen. The screen then starts playing a young octoling beatboxing a upbeat jingle, which have been overlayed with the garbled singing. The entire thing has the appearance of a studio set, albeit one that was done by an amateur who didn't entirely know what they were doing.]
[Because they don't.]
[The banner is pulled away and a pair of eyes looks into the camera before pulling herself away. The camera droops a moment, prompting the girl with tentacle hair to rush over and straighten it back. Satisfied that it's all in position, she returns to the center of the camera. Her face flushes as she strikes a pose, extending her fingers out and down in a wiggling motion.]
H-Hello Witch's Camp! T-This is the first ever Witch Cast, w-where we can talk about ourselves a-and stuff going around the camp! "That's right! We're all in this together right?" [She chirps in the corner of her mouth.] ...cod, no. I shouldn't try to make up another voice to respond to, that's dumb...
[Oh, right, she was still filming this live. UM...] Anyways, I'm Eight! I'll be your TakoCaster for today!! A-A-And I was thinking maybe, we could talk about stuff like things we find interesting, places with good food, and whether there is something important on your mind.
[Er-HEM. Her face flushes bright magenta as she is continuing.] So... what's on my mind is that, if anything, we discovered in the last mission that the Sylphid are doing some pretty grisly things to people. And... even if we want to go home, it seems pretty obvious that us being here means that we can work on making sure the people we care about won't be taken away. I think that is important enough to be displaced for a little while. Not because we want to be, but because we're in a position to do something about it. [As she says that, the nerves bleeds away to genuine concern and she thinks about the ones back home that she wanted to keep safe. Yeah, this... this was important.]
[Her attention returns to the camera. Oops, that got a bit dark, huh? The bright cheery smile returns and she tries her best to pick up the energy again.] A-Anyways! Um! I thought it would be good to start with introductions! So, um, what you want to go by, and whether or not you have a skill you have that you'd want other people to know, and—OH! places!! Are there any places in camp you think people should know about??
As for me, I'm pretty good with guns and weapons! I can do weapon maintenance a-and... yeah that's pretty much it. Oh! And you should definitely check out the Xin Markets! It's where I picked up these clothes. [Indeed, she's sporting a rather cute black high neck with a white high waist pleated mini.]
So, that's it for me, Eight!
So for now that's all we know,
just stay upbeat and go with the flow!
[She does the pose one more time before rushing up to the camera and turning off the record.]
[Because they don't.]

I did not come prepared with a song or performance. My apologies.
I am experienced in household management and record keeping.
I have complete mastery of water.
I enjoy tea.
I do not wish to be here.
[This comment took him at least ten minutes to type out and he is very proud.]
UN: hachi
I was trying to break the coldness. Like the people I admire back home.
And tea is lovely. Tea ceremonies are the best!!
I also do not wish to be here.
[There was one more comment that stood out to her, but for now she's going to give this person a chance to sort their thoughts and respond. Something told her they might need it.]
no subject
Tea ceremony is my specialty. I have spent years practicing to achieve the perfect pour. I am always pleased to meet another lover of tea, however... is tea safe for you to indulge in?
Matcha soaked tentacle is a delicacy. One cannot be too careful.
[He really is concerned someone might try to eat her.]
no subject
Do you really think so?
I kinda just threw it all together last minute...
It's pretty embarrassing to look back at it.
And, yes! Water isn't the greatest for me and I can't get into too much without splatting, but I still like to have a drink every now and then.
And tea is great! Lots of nice flavors and styles!! ツ
no subject
What is 'splatting'? I cannot imagine an existence where one has to avoid water... how do you remain hydrated? Was your mother not from the sea?
I prefer matcha. It has an immense depth of flavour, and I enjoy the whisking process. I find it very soothing.
no subject
Splatting is what happens when our bodies take too much enemy ink or water. We start to feel bad at first and then we explode. But that's okay because there is usually a spawn point nearby for us to come back.
We can drink about a half a liter whenever we need to drink. It's not a super lot. Our bodies can take that just fine. We were born of the sea, but we're no longer able to go back there.
I like matcha! I think it would be great to see a pro make it.

Hi, Eight and everyone else that might be reading this! My name is Dakota Perkins, but I also go by Codi, Ms. Perkins - whatever is most comfortable for you.
I'm self-motivated, determined, adaptable, and good at organizing and directing people. I'm also learning magic, which is very exciting!
As for what's on my mind, I think what you're doing here shows a great deal of foresight and inspiration. You should be proud of yourself! With a little more resources and funding, I think you could turn this into a truly professional and informative regular broadcast.
UN: hachi | text
Hello Codi! I think I heard some things about you? But it's hard to say and it's nice to make your acquaintance.
And I don't think it was that impressive!! I've been looking at it and it's really embarrassing! I look so nervous! I don't think I'll do it again. It really wasn't that good.
[She was hoping that it would look more like the newscast scenes presented by Off the Hook but it ended being... well... that. Maybe it wasn't terrible but man it was so much cooler in her head...]
no subject
Don't be so hard on yourself! You planned, produced, and performed this broadcast all on your own, right? And I'm guessing it's your first time doing anything like this?
no subject
Yes. It was very hard. I had to set up two recordings for the music, and use my own ink for the sign.
You should see the performances back home, though! Off the Hook and the Squid Sisters make it look so easy! But it isn't!!
no subject
[...Well, no, Codi doesn't actually sympathize with Eight in that way. She's done surprise live broadcasts before, but was she ever actually nervous for them? Of course not - she's the Tyrant. It'd be silly for her to be camera-shy.]
[Obviously this isn't something Codi imagines Eight wants to hear, so she keeps it to herself. Sympathy and flattery should work much better right now.]
no subject
Yeah! And it's not like it got a lot of coverage!
So far it has only been three people. So what help is it, really?
[She could justify it a bit more of people were taking it seriously, and there was more conversation between people. Maybe they were shy? Still, she doesn't see much point in putting herself out there if it wasn't an immediate success.]
[She was still young and hoping for that she'd see a great turnout, like her idols the Squid Sisters or Off the Hook!]
no subject
But that's ok!! You are learning and so is everyone else. You can't get discouraged and quit just because you're not immediately super successful. Did Off the Hook and the Squid Sisters start out huge without any background, funding, or platform? I doubt it!
no subject
Yeah! Though the Squid Sisters did start off by winning the first-annual Folk Singing Contest, which is what got their start in the music scene. And Off the Hook started off pretty small too, with Pearl getting her start as a death metal singer but her number one hit #$@%* Dudes Be #$@%* Sleepin, only had a small following.
[Um...]
So I might have to start small too! Even though Pearl started off having a lot of money and even had a Manta Maria for her 6th birthday, and all the equipment and
I think you're right!!
[About starting small. The bands she liked actually picked it off with exceedingly favorable conditions ahaha...]
no subject
I know I'm right! Speaking from experience, remember?
I think you're already seeing what has to happen next in order to really get your show off the ground, right?
You need sponsors. They can help you get the materials and staff you need to improve your production quality, plus hype and advertising!
no subject
[That came off as a little too much too quickly, where she wanted to try again and have a little bit of a better performance, she didn't think she was ready to be picked up by any sort of branding. Maybe in the future, but she was just getting started!!]
no subject
Sure! But only when you're ready. Just think about it, ok?
no subject
Okay.
I'll give it some thought.
[A lot of thought, and she is grateful that this was over text because she'd want to hide under something large and hollow.]
Video; UN: Bridger (please pretend I tagged this as immediately as I meant to)
For those who haven't met me yet, I'm Ezra Bridger. Just calling me Ezra or Bridger is fine. I was part of an insurgency back home, so I'm pretty used to sneaking around and fighting. I'm also a decent pilot and mechanic. In general I think I'm pretty adaptable, and I'm happy to pick up new skills.
I agree - most of use have good reasons to be want to be back home, but we also shouldn't let that completely get in the way of trying to do good here, too.
UN: hachi | video; and defers :>
[A very magenta-faced octogirl shows up on her screen. Hands on her cheeks and shaking from side to side.]
I think it's an idea that may have been better off as an idea. It's scary doing something like this!
no subject
We could...make it a joint project?
no subject
Are you for eel?
no subject
I'm serious - if that's what you mean.
no subject
That would be so helpful! It'd be so much easier to not have to do the next one by myself!
no subject
no subject
[Now it is her turn to show hesitation at the idea...]
no subject
no subject
Maybe after a big mission?
no subject
no subject
Yeah, I think I can be ready too, by then. [She forces a smile.]
no subject
Should he say something?
But she's allowed nerves. Allowed trepidation, or whatever it is that she's feeling. And it's her choice whether or not to press on despite those feelings.
So he just smiles.]
Ok! Let me know if you have more involved thoughts you want to go over, alright?
no subject
Okay! So, mm... you saw what I can contribute. What do you think you'd be good at?
no subject
What I did back home was...very off the cuff. Which is maybe not the best way to do things. I'm trying to think about the more planned and structured broadcast my parents did, when I was little.
[His expression clouds a little. But he is thinking rather than dwelling on missing them or thinking about how their broadcast took them away from him]
It seemed like they structured it kind of like you did. An introduction, some events that were...not good news. But always trying to end things on an optimistic note.
I like to think I'm pretty good at finding the good in things.
no subject
[For some reason that made sense to Eight. What it actually means is... well, something that seems obvious to her and less obvious for those that don't know who the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook are...]
no subject
I...don't know who those people are, though. Would you mind tell me a little more?
no subject
They are the Squid Sisters! An idol pair from back home! They come form the small region called Calamari County and won the Inkopolis first annual Youth-Folk Singing Contest, and that shuttled them to superstardom! Callie is the spunky and energetic one, who is always positive and upbeat! So she's a perfect fit for you! Marie is the quiet and shy one, who is quick with her quips but also has an endearing side! I'm not the most outgoing person, so that would be great for me!
